I visited the Driven to Quilt website to pick up “Episode 1.5” of the Driven to Quilt Podcast and I thought I would take the time to read the announcement at the top of the page.  The first time I visited this website I was so excited to get to the podcasts that I figured I would read it some other time.  Now seemed as good a time as any, but what news!

Nadine Ruggles created 14 podcasts over a period of about 6 or 7 months and posted her final podcast on December 11, 2006.  I am writing this post in April of 2008, very glad that her podcasts about quilting are still available.

Quilting is an “evergreen” topic, one that is fresh almost whenever a reader or listener would like to consume the information.  Perfect for a podcast!  Some of the themes in Ms. Ruggles’ posts and podcasts reflect the season of the year, particularly the later ones posted in November and December, but those seasons come every year!

Although Nadine Ruggles stopped releasing new podcasts, she continues to have a presence on the web.  Perhaps, while learning html to create the website that complements her podcast, she discovered that joy of doing website design that is so similar to some of the joys of quilting.  Website design seems to be a new passion for her that blends well with her enthusiasm for creating beautiful quilts.

I continue to look forward to hearing the Driven to Quilt Podcast series!  There are lots of illustrations on the accompanying website.  I expect to learn a lot of techniques and gain some inspiration to finish the quilts that have been waiting patiently for the pain in my hands to ease.

I am secretly hoping that I will also pick up ways to be able to safely resume this favorite hobby - with the same enthusiasm that I had before, but without too much of the pain.
